On Friday, November 13th, The Science Around Us hosted an assembly with Jorge Torres, Chief Meteorologist for Channel 4 News at Cuba Middle School. Students from Coronado Middle School also attended the assembly.
Jorge spoke to the students about his job and what his typical day entails. He also talked to the students about his studies in meteorology at Texas A&M University. He then quizzed the students to see what they knew about wildfires, tornados, hurricanes, and storms. Do you know the difference between a haboob, a dust devil, and a tornado? Or the difference between a hurricane and a typhoon? If not, ask a Coronado or Cuba Middle School student: they do!
